The two-day International Conference on “Medicinal Chemistry in Integrated Drug Discovery (MC-ID2)” was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, CO-SPONSORED by DST-SERB, NEW DELHI and SUPPORTED by “TAMILNADU STATE COUNCIL FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, GOVT OF TAMIL NADU, CHENNAI”. We are glad to inform you that the conference was held with around 276 registered delegates, of which 25 delegates as oral presenter and 42 delegates as poster presenter. We had invited 8 eminent resource persons to deliver their expert talk in integrated drug discovery.
The Inaugural function was conducted by the presence of Dr. R. Vasanthakumar, Chairman & Managing trustee of Karpagam educational institutions, Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, Vice-chancellor of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Dr. S. Mohan, Principal & Convener of MC-ID2, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Chief Guest Dr. M. Ganesan, Founder and Managing director, Microtherapeutic Research Lab, KMS Health Center Pvt. Ltd, Dr. A. Nagarajan, Director – R & D, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Dr. M. Karpakavalli, Organizing Secretary of MC-ID2, Professor & Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Dr.C.S.Kandasamy, Professor & Head, Dept. of Pharmacognosy & Dr. S. Satheesh Kumar, Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
The key note speaker of the day was Dr. P. Shanmugam, Chief Scientist & Head, Organic and Biooganic chemistry lab. CSIR, Govt. of India, Chennai. The afternoon session lectured by Mr. Mallavadhani Uppuluri, Chief Scientist (Rtd.,), Professor AcSIR, Ex.Head Center for Natural Products & Traditional Knowledge, CSIR – Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad. The final plenary lecture of the day was given by Dr. Mahendra Sekar, Associate Professor, School of Pharmacy, MONASH University, Malaysia. On the same day we had both Oral and Poster presentations from 02.00 pm onwards. Oral presentation was held in Lecture hall 1 & Poster presentation was held in Lecture hall 2.
The day 2 of the MC-ID2 stared with the refreshing session by Dr. M. Karpakavalli, Professor & Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore. The second speaker of the morning session was Dr. G. Sekar, Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT, Madras. The next speaker of the morning session is Dr. V. Murugan, Professor & Academic Director, Nargund College of Pharmacy, Bangaluru. To the continuation, final lecture of MC-ID2 was given by Dr. P. Varalakshmi, Head I/C, Dept. of Molecular Microbiology, School of Biotechnology, Madurai Kamarajar University, Tamil Nadu. The two day international conference was concluded with a valedictory function. The welcome address was given by Mr.Meeran, Assistant Professor, Conference report by Dr. M. Karpakavalli, Organizing secretary of MC-ID2.
The Valedictory address was given by the Chief Guest of the function Dr. S. Ravi, Registrar, KAHE. Later, Felicitation address by Dr. S. Mohan, Principal & Convener of MC-ID2, Karpagam College of Pharmacy. The event was continued with an announcement and award money distribution to the winners of best oral/e-poster Presenter and Certificate Distribution. (Announcement by Ms. A Sowmya and Mrs. Cisma V. S) and Oral feedback by delegates. The program was concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Grace Shaji Chittilappilly, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Karpagam college of Pharmacy and was successfully concluded with a National Anthem. The International conference was a grand success with the help of all participants, staffs and student volunteers.
