Two days International convention on  “Neuropharmacology: An Emerging Field in the Pharmacology” – 27th and 28th February 2025

Two days International convention entitled “Neuropharmacology: An Emerging Field in the Pharmacology” was organized by the Department of Pharmacology, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore co-sponsored by The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai during 27th and 28th February 2025. Dr. M. Ramanathan, Principal, PSG College of Pharmacy, was the Chief Guest of the event, inaugurated the convention. Dr. K. Elango, Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, was the Guest of Honour of the event. Dr. S. Mohan, Principal, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, was the convener, given his Presidential address.

Scientific session I: Dr. M. Ramanathan, Principal, PSG College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore delivered talk on “Development of JNK inhibitors to attenuate neurodegeneration”. Scientific session II: “Emerging Trends in Neuropharmacological Research: Insights from Zebrafish Models” was delivered by Dr. J. Srikanth, Associate Professor, Sri Ramachandra Faulty of Pharmacy, Chennai.

Scientific session III: Dr. S. Balasubramanian, Post-doctoral Fellow, Hokkaido University, Japan shared his valuable talk on “Computer Aided Drug Design and Drug Discovery: A Brief Overview”. Scientific session IV: “Current Trends and Future Perspectives in the management of Alzheimer’s Disease” was delivered by Dr. A. Madeswaran, Professor & Head, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore.

Scientific session V: Mr. D. Pradeep, Associate Manager, Regulatory & Certified Toxicologist, Kualampur, Malaysia given hisinsight on “Neurotoxicity in Realm of Clinical Neuropharmacology”. Scientific session VI: “Safety Assessment of CNS Drugs” which was delivered by Mr. Pradeep kumar, Associate Manager, ClinChoice Private Limited, Hyderabad.

Scientific session VII: Dr. K. Asokkumar, Professor & Head, College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore was given lecture on Exploring Vertebrate and Intervertebrate Models for Preclinical Investigation in Neurodegenerative Diseases. Scientific session VIII: Dr. R. Vadivelan, Professor, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty on the topic of Molecular Insights of Cognitive Dysfunction in Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

In e-Poster presentations, totally sixty six research papers were presented by the delegates from various institutions and thirty oral presentations were presented by different pharmacy professionals. The two days International Convention report was delivered by the Organizing Secretary Dr. A. Madeswaran. Dr. K. Asokkumar, Professor & Head, College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore has given the valedictory address. Dr. S. Mohan, Principal, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, who was convener, given his Felicitation address. The Convention had 270 delegates from various institutions across the state. The winners of the presentations were given with momentoes and certificates. All the delegates were presented with certificates of participation.
